Mr Miyagi - Japanese Food Melbourne

Heard about this place quite a few times from a friend and me and the boy decided to try it.
Address: 99 Chapel Street, Windsor VIC 3181
We took the tram towards Windsor from Melbourne CBD.

I have heard people talking about how crazy the queue is, we are talking about HOURS if you do go at a popular timing.

We went early on a weekday so we got a seat pretty much straight away.
Menu is available on their website.

 Kingfish Ceviche

Probably the tastiest ceviche I ever had so far in Melbourne.
Citrus and the coconut blend, a hint of saltiness from the roe.

 Raw Wagyu Beef Tataki

It was good but nothing amazing. If you are wondering about the portion, the beef above has already been half eaten. Sorry! Was not quick enough to snap a picture before the boyfie dug into it.

Another must order dish is their nori salmon taco.
Instead of your traditional taco shell, they uses crispy nori, topped with a generously amount of salmon, seasoned sushi rice and mayonaise. Salmon literally just melts in your mouth!
I do not have a picture for it because its gone before I could take one!

We tried the corn on cob the second time we went there. Good but not great.
Also the Tempura broccoli, special but nothing special, I found that the broccoli is abit mushy.
Their fried chicken is good, but will I pay that price for fried chicken? Maybe not.

Dessert, Pumpkin bread with pumpkin ice cream

Unfortunately the dessert was a total disappointment. The bread was obviously burnt and when I questioned the waiter, "It was suppose to be like that because is caramelised"
Well. I do know how to cook. I do know how to bake, and I am pretty sure caramelised toasts do not taste like burnt toast.
The whole dish was overly sweet and the only saving grace is the yogurt sorbet.
The white chocolate and honeycomb crumbs combined with the ganache just over powers everything. The spice pumpkin is basically tasteless after all the overpowering sweetness, plus the burnt toast? No more next time.

Is it value for money? Maybe, depends on what you order, and is definitely not cheap.
Is the service good? So-so, 2 times we have been there, the waitresses seems like they are uninterested in you.
Will I go back again?  Mostly likely no but if I REALLY REALLY crave for salmon taco and ceviche, maybe.

But having said that if you have not been there, definitely give it a go.

-All above is solely based on my own experiences-
