I shall start the first travelling post of the blog with the
trip I made to Legoland Malaysia theme park in April 2013.
Legoland Malaysia in general is designed for kids. If you are after thrill roller coaster rides, I suggest you give this a skip (there’s only 2 rides that are reasonably thrill for adventurous teenagers/adults).
I realize Legoland has expanded much more now with the water
park. The water park wasn't there when I went there; lots of the things in
there have not been fully developed as well. If you have an idea when you are going to Legoland, you can
book online, one week in advance and get a 20% discount off the regular price. Check their website for more information about the price and transportation.

Me and my boy used route 1 of the bus services (much cheaper than taking a coach), it seems complicated but it is surprisingly easy to get around, maybe because I just followed around while my boy leads the way. We had to change a few buses in between. If you are travelling from Singapore and not familiar with the bus services and immigration clearance etc, taking a coach will be much more convenient (directly goes to Legoland without changing buses in between and I think they settle the immigration clearance for you as well).
I looked around blogs saying that foods in Legoland are expensive so my boy and I decided to have our breakkie/brunch at the Old Town Coffee Shop just right outside Legoland. There's a mini shopping street just outside Legoland with fair few restaurants and KFC, so there are a few choices to choose from. I'm not a fan of Old Town's foods (my brunch was alrite) so I will not elaborate more about it. I saw the restaurant/cafe in Legoland have a meal combo of soft drinks+meals with just RM8.50, so I guess it not that expensive after all (or maybe is just a one-off offer thingy?), though I'm not too sure about the taste, we never eat there.
Into the Legoland!
All the decorations in there are made out of Lego Bricks!Duh, its legoland.
You can access the park map from here.
We went to the park during weekdays so there's not much people in the park. I loved the peace! Though it gets a bit lonely when there's only another 5 people taking the same ride as you.
This is one of the 'thrill' ride I mentioned earlier. Love it.
I think the lego miniatures of famous buildings in Asia are the highlight of Legoland. You can take the train that goes around the miniatures area so you don't have to walk around, it can get very very hot in the afternoon. Make sure you have your sunshades, hats and sunscreen on ;) because there is not much shades around the park, the trees will take some time to grow.
Malaysia's Famous Twin Tower, all made out of lego bricks
Singapore Flyer, the mini cars and lego men are cute
I believe this is something in Vietnam or Thailand, not too sure, read the description but I forgot :/
Kuala Lumpur International Airport, I think this is the coolest, how do they even mimic the curvy roofs
Somewhere in KL ._. not very familiar with all these buildings
Apparently it is prettier when the sky is dark and the lights are up, unfortunately we did not stay till late and the park closes early during the weekdays, check the closing time if you are up for it, they have extended operating hours during weekends I think.
4D movie entrance
I have to say, I totally did not enjoy these movies. Universal Studio in Singapore has way better 4D theatre. The chairs doesn't move and yes, it does sprinkles water rains on you (and that makes it 4D?). It rains, yes I mean it, we were wet when we came out of the theatre, and to make it worst, the air conditioning were on a full blast mode. IT WAS REALLY FREEZING COLD IN THERE. So if you wanna experience the 4D theatre in legoland, bring a jacket, even a raincoat, and I'm dead serious. The movie, were not that entertaining if you were an adult, my boy literally fell asleep during the movie. I have no idea why we went in there for the second time (they plays 4 different movies at different timing).. Maybe because we wanna take a break from the scorching sun. But be careful, you can get sick from the sudden change in temperature.
There are other places that you can hide from the sun. There's a discovery centre or technic centre (whatever its called), where you can make your own car using the lego bricks and part provided and race against other people's car, pretty cool ;) boy enjoyed it. It air conditioned as well. I think they have different activities going on as well, but the target audience are kids (< 12yo) so we gave it a skip.
Also there is a observatory tower, make sure you sit under the air conditioner! You can see the whole legoland from the tower.
As you can see the water park and legoland hotel were still under-construction
This is another 'thrill' ride called The Dragon. There's a mini version of it for kids, just opposite to it
We went on it twice or thrice
We spent about 3-4 hours in legoland. Overall, I had a pretty good experience in legoland, seeing all the miniatures and the 2 rides. Wouldn't go back for the second time though. As I said earlier the main target audience will be young kids, and I'm pretty sure kids will love it. Lots of rides and activities for them. There's a boat and car driving schools where they get to ride paddle boat (I think) and drive cars, pretty cool.
Book online and in advance for 20% discount!
They have direction for drivers as well, just click the 'direction' tab on the left hand side
Pretty detailed park map, you can zoom in to see more details
Things to bring
Umbrella, eye shades, sunblock, hats (to keep you away from the sun),

raincoat (It can rains sometimes),
spare clothes, towels (if you are going to the waterpark or the water rides)
